Over 30 years ago. Canadian Photographer freeman Patterson began offering photography tours in Namaqualand in the Northern Cape of South Africa. Outside of the flower season. Namaqualand reminds of many arid regions of the world with dusty valleys and sepia-toned mountains. During the flower season. these landscapes are transformed into an artist's palette of colour and pure inspiration. The village of Kamieskroon and it's charming hotel, are situated at the epicentre of this transformation.
Mark Kelly is continuing the tradition started by freeman and will be photographer-in-residence at the Kamieskroon hotel. He will be offering slide shows. location guidance and workshops.
